Maybelline claims that it is protected by a special “anti-microbial system”, but it still grosses me out. The directions say not to wet the sponge (probably because you’ll end up adding water back into the product) and to just “wipe off excess foundation with a dry tissue only”. There is no good way to clean that sponge. I’m sorry, but it just screams “germ trap” to me. My main gripe with this product line is the horrible sponge top. It is not drying in the slightest bit and actually stays pretty moist, another plus for those with dry skin, but the down side is that you are probably not going to get a full day of wear, especially if you have oily skin. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment has a very silky texture and I do not think that it settles into pores or fine lines. The foundation blends easily and dries slowly, so you have plenty of time to work with it.

Studio Powder Brush as my foundation brush, but fingers work just as well. If you try to rely on the “Patented Micro-Corrector Applicator” it will end up a big streaky mess, so don’t try it. Unfortunately, you can not get away without blending this foundation out with something other than the provided sponge head. Maybelline claims that, in addition to all of the miracle ingredients the foundation includes, the “Patented Micro-Corrector Applicator” (sponge head) “micro-fills and smoothes imperfections on skin’s surface”. So, if you have normal to dry skin and use a setting powder, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment foundation may be a good choice for you. I wouldn’t go so far as to say “flawless”, but it does blend out very well and does make skin look slightly younger. However, it does provide very decent light-medium coverage and does have a nice lightweight finish. I also would not use it if you are adverse to topping it with a powder, for the same reasons. I’m not going to say that it can’t work on oily skin, in fact the product claims that it is for all skin types, but I would think that it might accentuate oils and break down more quickly. Even with my dry skin, I find that it keeps its rather emollient nature all throughout wear. I would be hesitant to use it if you have oily skin because it dries to a satin finish, which would probably be too shiny on already oily skin. Overall, I’m going to say that it is a good foundation, for some people. I’m sort of having a love/hate relationship with Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment.

I’ve had these for a month now, so I think I’ve used them enough times for a fair review.

Today I have the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup Foundation and the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer (what a mouth full!) for review.
